John Jagerson’s Options Masterclass Series (Worth It?)

Hi, today we’ll be discussing John Jagerson’s Options Masterclass Series.

I decided to take a closer look at John’s “masterclass” after receiving an email from the company behind it, InvestorPlace. The email led me to a presentation featuring John Jagerson, who says his system is “the single greatest way to make money from home.”

Apparently, his “little-known strategy” can help you make $1,480 or more upfront, $2,960 per week, and up to $142,080 per year in “guaranteed upfront cash payouts.”

Sounds exciting, but is it legit?

Admittedly, I was skeptical because some of what John says in the presentation sounds too good to be true. But after taking a closer look, I don’t believe it’s a scam. That said, there are risks involved, so it’s not a guaranteed way to make consistent profits.

In this review, I’ll show you what you need to know before joining.

Overview of The Options Masterclass Series

According to John Jagerson, the Options Masterclass Series is “the perfect way to learn how to make extra money at home.”

In the presentation, he says that with the help of a “little-known strategy” that is “required by law to pay you as much as $1,480 or more upfront,” you could make thousands of dollars per week.

Specifically, John says you could make:

  • $2,960 per week;
  • $11,840 per month or;
  • $142,080 per year.

And apparently, these are “guaranteed upfront cash payouts.”

Really?

As I’ll explain shortly, John’s strategy doesn’t guarantee you’ll make a profit, but there is some truth to what he’s saying, and apparently, it has been working for him and his subscribers.

John Jagerson says he has been using this strategy for years to make thousands of dollars per week and shows many testimonials that supposedly come from those who’ve signed up that claim to be seeing real success.

Like one from “Keith N.” who apparently made “about $80,000 in the last week or two” and “Gordon S.” who said his “typical return with this strategy is around $200 to $400 per trade.”

He also shows the following as examples of “upfront cash payouts” his subscribers have seen within a few minutes or less:

  • Dollar General ($2,290)
  • Activision Blizzard ($1,025)
  • Bank of America ($165)
  • Applied Materials ($700)
  • Walt Disney ($1,100)
  • Cisco Systems ($625)
  • Ball Corp. ($620)
  • Adobe ($1,655)
  • Costco ($1,480)
  • Caterpillar ($1,175)

John says his system has outperformed the S&P 500 by 3.5 times and that you could’ve turned a $100K portfolio in mid-2018 into $188,317 in 2021. Which, if true, is impressive.

How does it work?

John’s strategy involves selling options. Which he says is much less risky than buying stocks and that it’s the simplest and “absolutely lowest-risk way” to use options.

I’ve developed a low-risk way to generate potentially thousands of dollars per week in extra income, deposited directly into your account, using a simple options strategy you can use at home.

John shares his strategy with members of his five-part Options Masterclass Series. This normally costs $497, but for $7, you get access to the first lesson titled: “Master Class Lesson #1: Your Blueprint for Options Success — Simple Strategies for Big Gains.”

The first lesson is really just an introduction, though…

It gives you an overview of John’s strategy, shows you how to set up your brokerage account, how to plan and set up your trades, how to calculate your potential profit, and so on.

So it’s probably enough to help you decide if you like it. But if you want to learn John’s entire options trading strategy, you need to upgrade to access the next four lessons.

John also runs a trading advisory service called Strategic Trader for $99 per month, which shows subscribers how to make money selling options.

And this is a natural progression from the material covered in the options masterclass since it’s based on the same trading strategy and gives you weekly trade recommendations and other resources that build on what you learn within the masterclass.

So, if you do sign up for the masterclass, keep in mind you will be encouraged to join his Strategic Trader service at some point. And either way, you should probably set aside more than $7.

How Does John Jagerson’s “Options Masterclass Series” Strategy Work?

The core idea behind John’s strategy revolves around selling options.

Options trading is different from buying shares of a company. Because, with options, you’re not actually buying the underlying shares; you’re essentially speculating on the price.

An options contract gives you the right, but not the obligation, to buy or sell the underlying security (like shares) at the agreed-upon price and the agreed-upon date.

The good thing about options is that they can help you turn a relatively small stake into potentially much higher returns. Which is one of the reasons they’re so popular.

However, there’s also a lot more involved with options than simply buying and selling shares. And because you aren’t buying the underlying asset, you can lose your entire investment if the trade goes against you. Whereas if you owned shares that went down in price, all is not lost since the price may go up again one day.

So there are pros and cons to consider.

Nevertheless, John says his strategy of selling options is the “absolutely lowest-risk way to use options” and that it’s a “simple options strategy you can use at home.”

How does option selling work?

As I touched on earlier, options allow you to speculate on the price of the underlying asset. You can bet on the price going up or down, and there are different ways to buy and sell options.

For example, you can:

  • Buy a call option
  • Buy a put option
  • Sell a call option
  • Sell a put option

As this article on Investopedia explains, each of the above strategies has its own merits, but selling options (i.e., selling calls or puts) is a real way to generate income.

As the seller of an option, you get paid the option premium (the option’s price) upfront when you place the trade. And if the option’s price declines, you can close out your position by purchasing the option at a cheaper premium which, in turn, can result in a profit.

That’s the general gist of it, anyway.

John says his method is simple, but trading options will always be more complicated than simply buying and selling shares of a company. So you’re not alone if you think it sounds not very easy.

Either way, if you are going to get into options, it may be worth taking the time to educate yourself on how it works beyond what is taught by John. That way, you can feel more confident about what you’re getting yourself into. And this video I found may help you with that:

Who Is John Jagerson?

John Jagerson is a former broker, money manager, and private equity investor with almost 20 years of experience. He’s also the man behind the Options Masterclass Series and Strategic Trader service, which are both published by InvestorPlace.

According to John, he has worked with firms like TD Ameritrade, Nasdaq, and the International Securities Exchange. And his bio on the InvestorPlace website states that he holds the Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) Chartered Market Technician (CMT) designations.

At one point, the website says he was a vice president for thinkorswim Group, Inc, which is behind a popular trading platform called thinkorswim by TD Ameritrade.

He is also the co-founder of Learning Markets, a site that provides free courses, reports, and webinars for traders to learn how to become successful.

He also shares some great insights on Youtube as part of this:

Last but not least, John co-authored a book called Profiting with Forex in 2006.

All in all, John doesn’t appear to be as well-known as some trading gurus I’ve encountered over the years, but he does seem to be an expert trader, especially when it comes to options.

And he creates lots of free content, which I like because you can learn from him without buying anything then decide if you want to access his paid products and services.

Joining Options Masterclass Series

To access the Options Masterclass Series, you need to sign up through the presentation on the InvestorPlace website. And from what I can see, it’s not advertised on the website; I only found out about it through an email I received which gives you a special link to join through.

In any case, once you are on the presentation page, you need to follow the prompts and take advantage of the (non-refundable) $7 introductory offer.

This gives you access to the first lesson of the five-part training series called “Master Class Lesson #1: Your Blueprint for Options Success,” which covers the basics of John’s strategy.

For example, you learn all about the “upfront cash payouts” John talks about in the presentation and how these are essentially “guaranteed” (more on this in a moment).

You also learn how to choose a broker and set up your account so that you’re ready to start trading and how to work out how profitable a given trade could be.

In the subsequent four lessons, which you don’t get access to for $7, you learn more about how the strategy works, implement it, and why John recommends it.

In some respects, it is “bait” to get you to access the next four lessons.

And The Options MasterClass Series, as a whole, is kind of a promotion of a service John and his colleague Wade Hansen run called Strategic Trader, which costs $2,000 to join.

The Options MasterClass Series does have value in and of itself, so it’s not just a ploy to get people to join Strategic Trader, but at the same time, this is what it leads you towards.

So you should factor in more than $7 to get his full strategy and if you want his weekly trade recommendations. You should also factor in having some money to trade with if you want to follow John’s recommendations.

Are “Upfront Cash Payouts” Really Guaranteed?

The short answer is… kind of.

On the one hand, the way options selling works is you do get paid the upfront premium when you sell the option. In other words, when you initiate the trade. So in the very technical sense, as an options seller, you do get “guaranteed payments.”

But you are NOT guaranteed to actually make a profit.

Not at all.

The only way you can actually make a profit is if the trade works out in your favor. This means, if the trade goes against you, you can actually end up losing money.

So John is telling the truth when he says you’re guaranteed to get upfront cash payouts with his method; he just doesn’t explain the whole process involved in making money selling options. At least, not until after you join his Options Masterclass.

In any case, there are risks involved with trading options. Some strategies may be lower-risk, but there are always risks involved since nobody can predict the future price of any financial asset.

And I think this is really important to understand before rushing in.

Is The Options Masterclass Series Legit?

The Options Masterclass Series isn’t a scam; it’s a real training course developed by a real trading expert with almost two decades of experience.

And the company behind it, InvestorPlace, is a respected financial publishing company that sells some of the most popular advisory services in the finance space.

Some of which we’ve reviewed like Luke Lango’s Innovation Investor, The Crypto Investor Network, and Louis Navellier’s Breakthrough Stocks.

With all of that said, I think it’s worth taking some of the claims in the presentation with a grain of salt. Because as I just explained, it’s not a guaranteed way to make a profit.

If the example trades he provides are anything to go by, it could be an awesome way to make money every week. But as with any trading method, there are no guarantees.

Also, assuming you’re only allocating a percentage of your portfolio with each trade and taking into account wins and losses, you may need more capital than you think to get to the point of making $11,840 in profit each month.

So, The Options Masterclass Series is legit. But I personally wouldn’t sign up expecting it’s a guaranteed way to make thousands of dollars per month. Especially not if you only have a relatively small bankroll. Nor would I join without understanding the risks involved.

Bottom Line

The Options Masterclass Series is a five-part training series created by John Jagerson of InvestorPlace, that shows you how to make money selling options as a beginner.

Overall, I think it could be worth checking out if you like the idea of earning income by selling options. At the cost of $7, it’s hard to go too far wrong.

At the same time, however, you’re only getting part of what you need for $7.

Because this only gives you access to the first lesson in the series, which John says is enough to help you decide if you want to access the entire series. But it’s not the whole course. According to John, the complete Options Masterclass Series is normally sold for $497.

Either way, it seems like an interesting strategy to have a play around with.

And if you don’t want to go “all-in,” you could start by checking out the free training he provides on his Learning Markets website and Youtube channel. That way, you could at least get a feel for his strategy before joining his course and betting on his recommendations.

Whatever you decide, I hope you found this helpful.
