Paparazzi Accessories consultants earn money selling jewelry at home parties.
And since you’re reading this, I’m guessing one of those consultants reached out to you about joining. Probably saying that this is the “most amazing opportunity” on the planet.
Sound about right?
Either way, you’re here because you want to know if this is a legit opportunity or not. Which is smart. It’s always good to do your homework before diving in.
Anyways, here’s the deal…
On one hand, this is not a scam. It can actually be an exciting and lucrative business opportunity for the right person. You get to sell stuff you love, and enjoy the flexibility of working from home as your own boss. Win win.
On the other hand, you need to host lots of “home parties” and recruit a lot of people if you want to make any real money with this. The recruiting aspect is especially important given the low cost/ low profit of these jewelry products.
So there are pros and cons to consider. And in this article, I’ll show you what you need to know before joining, to help you make a more informed decision either way.
Company Overview
Paparazzi Accessories is a direct sales/ multilevel marketing company that sells cheap jewelry and accessories.
The company was founded in 2010 by Misty and Trent Kirby and Chani and Ryan Reeve. The idea was to make “trendy accessories” affordable and available to women everywhere.
They’ve certainly made the “affordable” part of their vision a reality. Because literally every single accessory costs $5. All day, everyday. This is stuff anyone can afford.
And I’m no fashion accessory expert, but people seem to love this stuff! This is one of the most popular companies of its kind, especially within the MLM world.
And yes, this is a MLM company!
Because instead of selling this stuff using retail stores and so forth, they sell them through their network of independent consultants. Who sell them to people they invite to home parties.
That’s what makes this a “direct sales” company.
The MLM aspect comes into play because consultants don’t just earn by selling products directly. They also earn by recruiting others into their downline, who sell products.
And that’s what makes it MLM.
Now I’m not saying this is a bad thing.
There are plenty of legit MLM companies out there, that use this “home party” MLM model. For example Avon, Tupperware and Norwex.
It’s just an important aspect of this opportunity to understand. Because as with any MLM company, the majority of profits come from building a large enough team.
Let me explain…
Becoming a Paparazzi Accessories Consultant
In this section, I am going to talk about the following:
- What you’ll be doing as a consultant
- How much money you can potentially make
- The startup costs
- Getting started
By the time you’ve read this, you’ll have a much better idea as to what is involved and what you need to do to get your business rolling.
After that, we’ll talk about whether or not it’s actually worthwhile pursuing.
Sound good?
Okay, let’s dive in!
What Will You Be Doing as a Consultant?
As a Paparazzi Accessories consultant, you will be selling trendy $5 accessories. Anything from rings, bracelets, necklaces, earrings, hair accessories- you name it.
And you will be selling this stuff at home parties.
What exactly is a home party?
A home party is basically a get together where you show people all the accessories you’re selling. People who attend can see, touch and even wear the accessories. And if they like, the hope is that they will buy from you, which will make you a profit.
You can also sell Paparazzi jewelry online. If someone visits your replicated store and makes a purchase, you get paid a commission.
So your first main job is selling products.
But let’s be honest, selling jewelry at $5 a pop won’t make you rich. So if you want to make the REAL money, you need to build your team.
Which is why your second main job is turning those customers into consultants. Who then go out and start making sales, and recruiting people.
That’s the name of the game really.
Those who are the most successful with this, spend most of their time conducting home parties and recruiting people to do the same thing.
How Much Money Can You Make?
Ultimately, how much money you can make as a consultant comes down to how much effort you put in. Specifically, how many people you and your team can recruit over time.
But I know you want the specifics, so I’ll go over these now…
Direct Sales
Consultants earn 45% commissions on any products sold, online or offline.
If you sell at a home party, you collect the cash and the profit you make is the difference between your wholesale price and the retail price they pay. Which is 45%, or $2.25 per item ordered. If you sell this stuff online, you get a straight up 45% commission.
In addition, if you sell more than 1000 PV worth of product in any given order, you earn an extra 10% “Show Rebate” bonus.
Recruiting Commissions
There are six main ways you can earn by recruiting consultants:
- Business Building Bonus
- Unilevel Bonus
- Generation Bonus
- Legacy Bonus
- Infinity Bonus
- Cash Bonus
The official compensation plan goes into detail on each income stream. But I’ll break this down for you real quick, so you know what to expect.
The Business Building Bonus pays you a 15% commission on whatever Starter Kit your new recruit purchases. Which means a roughly $15 to $75 commission.
From this point forward, the MLM aspect comes into play…
The Unilevel bonus pays you between 5-10% of the sales generated in your downline, 3 levels deep. Your personal recruits make up your level 1, their recruit make up your level 2 and their recruits make up your level 3.
The more sales the people in your downline generate, the more money you’ll make.
The Generation, Legacy and Infinity bonuses are similar to the Unilevel bonus. But these are not capped at 3 levels. Instead, you earn commissions from “groups of consultants” in your downline. Based on their rank and your consultant rank within the company.
For example: When you reach the Executive Director rank, you’ll earn 1% of the sales volume generated by everyone in your downline, no matter how deep, up to and including the next Executive Director consultant. This is how the Generation Bonus works.
The Legacy and Infinity bonuses work in the same way, but these are based on higher ranks.
In total, there are 14 ranks within the compensation plan. And as you would expect, the higher your rank, the more money you can potentially make.
The “Cash Bonus” is basically a rank advancement bonus. This pays Luxe Jetsetter and Impressionista ranked consultants $25k and $50k respectively upon reaching that rank.
What Are The Startup Costs?
The cost of starting your Paparazzi Accessories business depends on which Starter Kit you decide to buy.
Here’s a quick breakdown of the different Starter Kits available:
- Preview Pack: Costs $99 and gives you $175 worth of products
- Small Home Party Kit: Costs $299 and gives you $600 worth of products
- Large Home Party Kit: Costs $499 and gives you $1,000 worth of products
These aren’t extreme costs. And you do get more dollar value in product that you are spending which is cool. It’s also why they say you are getting “instant retail profit”.
Aside from this, you should factor in the miscellaneous costs of running the home parties too. And the cost of attending sales events and so forth, which are strongly encouraged.
How to Get Started
To get started you just need to visit the company website and head to the “join” page. Where you can then search for a consultant using a zip code, consultant name or phone number:
From here, you need to purchase a Starter Kit and you’re good to go.
Once the products are shipped to your home, you can start inviting people over and showing them all the accessories on offer.
Easy as 1, 2, 3 right?
Kinda. Getting started is the easy part. Even making your first initial sales isn’t that difficult. Especially since you can just invite people you already know.
Getting beyond this point is where most people come unstuck.
Conclusion – Legit Opportunity or Waste of Time?
Paparazzi Accessories is a legitimate company and the opportunity for consultants to earn money is very real. So for the right person, this could be a worthwhile opportunity.
Especially if you really love the products and love the idea of constantly meeting new people that you can “party” with so to speak.
But it’s definitely not for everyone.
Because for starters, most people do not have a large enough network to make anywhere near enough sales. Or to recruit anywhere near enough people.
That’s just the way it is.
Which means you can either become one of “those” people who literally hustles everyone they know, and everyone they know, just to get people in the door.
Or you can venture into the online world and learn how to use internet marketing skills to attract leads, make sales and grow your downline.
The latter approach is going to be far more effective.
The problem is, you need to learn those skills to begin with. And the company isn’t going to teach you this. Because like most MLM companies, they teach you how to talk to people you know. Which again, is totally useless if you want to make real money longterm.
Second of all, even if you do have a strong network, making 45% of a $5 product is still a very low commission ($2.25 a pop). You are going to need to be selling boatloads of this stuff to make even a modest income.
Personally, I think there are better opportunities out there for these reasons.
Opportunities that are far more rewarding, that do not involve recruiting and where you can learn how to leverage the internet to generate leads and sales.
In any case, at the end of the day what matters most is what you think.
Hopefully, this article has given you some insight into the positives and negatives of becoming a Paparazzi consultant. So you can make a more informed choice either way.
