Inbound Closer Review: Legit Payton Welch Program?

Welcome to my review of Taylor and Payton Welch’s “Inbound Closer.”

I discovered this program through an online ad, which basically claims to help you make big money with “this high-demand skill” that exists in a $129 billion industry.

According to the presentation, you can “stuff your pockets with daily commissions of $980 or more.” And apparently, 1,621 people from around the world have already done this, in as little as 21 days, and within nothing more than a PDF and phone.

Sounds cool…

But I’ll admit, it also sounds a little too good to be true.

So I decided to take a closer look into the program, to see what it was all about and to figure out if it’s legit or some kind of scam before joining.

And in this review, I’ll show you exactly what I found.

What Is An Inbound Closer – Real Job or Sales Hype?

An inbound closer is just someone who makes sales over the phone.

Or, more specifically, someone who specializes in “closing” (AKA selling) higher priced products and services over the phone, to people who’ve already shown an interest in buying.

The term “inbound closer” isn’t an official job description though, it’s basically just a term that Taylor Welch came up with. A more accurate job title might simply be telemarketer.

In any case, to help you grasp what this is all about in more detail, it’s probably best to start with what happens before the phone calls take place. That way you’ll be able to see the whole picture of how all of this works and what’s involved before deciding.

The first important thing to understand is that inbound closing has to do with selling high ticket products online. As in, selling products and services that cost $1,000’s or $10,000’s.

As you can imagine, it’s a lot more difficult to sell higher priced products on the internet than it is to sell lower priced products. People will readily whip out their credit card and buy something for less than $100, but once the price is higher, it often takes a skilled phone salesperson to “close the deal.”

As such, most high ticket programs don’t begin by asking you to buy something expensive. They start by asking you for a small amount of money (like $27, $47 or $97 for example). Then you’re asked to purchase progressively more expensive products (called upsells) from there. And they typically do this with the help of a phone salesperson.

Free training: The 4-Step Formula I Use to Generate $10K plus p/m Online

This is not a new approach to making high ticket sales. It has actually been around for many years and it’s a method of selling that is used by numerous “make money online” programs, simply because it works.

It’s more or less based on the foot-in-the-door-technique, where you essentially get the prospect to comply with a small request (like a low priced offer) and then progressively larger commitments (like paying for higher and higher cost products).

And if you think it sounds a little scammy… you’re not alone.

There are many great companies that use this high ticket sales approach ethically. But there’s also some shady programs out there that have used this model to scam people. I’ve written about this in detail in an article about high ticket programs if you want to learn more.

Either way, as an inbound closer, you’re the person on the phone who’s trying to “upsell” the prospect. You may even be given the title of “coach” or “advisor” or something of that nature, because the prospect is looking to you for guidance as to why they should buy and how doing so will benefit them.

Of course, it does depend on what you’re selling as an inbound closer as to the exact setup, but this is an overview of what the “high ticket phone selling” model is all about.

What’s the “thriving $129 billion industry” mentioned in the sales pitch?

My guess is they’re referring to the online advertising industry. Because according to emarketer.com, digital ad spending in the U.S. was $129.34 billion in 2019 and this is expected to grow substantially in the years to come. So this is likely where they got that figure from.

How Does the Inbound Closer Program Work?

Inbound Closer is a 21-day online training program that shows you how to close (sell) high ticket programs over the phone.

The cost of getting involved is $97 one-time and this gives you access to the training, a 6-page PDF guide with scripts so you know what to say, as well as other resources aimed at helping you become a successful phone salesperson.

Overview of Inbound Closer program

According to Payton Welch, the man running the program, he has used the same information he’s sharing with members of Inbound Closer to sell over $42 million in products, across thousands of sales calls. So he’s someone with a track record of success within the world of phone sales.

What are you actually going to be doing after joining?

Well, the first thing you’ll be doing is going through the training to learn how everything works. Then, once you’ve educated yourself throughout the 21 day training period, it’s time to start doing calls.

You’re not just making cold calls though. As an inbound closer, you’re speaking with people who have already shown interest in a given product or service as a result of an existing online sales funnel that has been setup, that your prospect has entered.

In other words, you’re typically speaking with people who’ve already bought a lower priced product and your job is to sell them the higher ticket product the company offers. When you do this successfully, the company you are working with pays you a commission.

The exact methods and how to find companies to work with is all explained within the training program. And how much each company pays you will depend on which companies you partner with and the individual agreement you setup with them.

Either way it’s all commission based though, so this is NOT a job, it’s a business where you get paid commissions for sales you make.

Here’s an overview of what you get if you buy:

  • Training: 21 day course aimed at helping you become a successful inbound closer (AKA high ticket phone salesperson or telemarketer). In addition, members also get access to a 2-module library of extra training on how to get your first client as quickly as possible, as well as a PDF guide to help you make calls successfully.
  • Call recordings and analysis: Training is one thing, actually seeing this stuff put to work is another. And one of the great things about this program is you get access to sales call recordings and analysis from top experts in the field, which could really help bolster your learning experience.
  • Support: As a member of Inbound Closer you also get access to something called “The Inbound Closer Mastermind Group” which allows you to connect with others who are undertaking the program. This is a good way to network and learn from other members.

What sort of high ticket programs can you sell?

There are lots of different high ticket offers you can sell once you learn the ropes. Inbound Closer is similar to other courses, such as Dan Lok’s High Ticket Closer, in that it helps you develop skills you can use to work with virtually any company selling higher priced products and services.

For example, some inbound closers work with companies that provide real estate investment services, while others work with companies that sell high ticket online courses, like Legendary Marketer for example. And some even find work by simply scrolling through sites like UpWork which lists high ticket closing jobs.

Also worth mentioning is that Taylor gives members access to his “Personal Network of Online Entrepreneur” resource which, according to the website, helps connect you with jobs he and his clients are offering in the space. So there are plenty of options.

Who’s Behind Inbound Closer?

Payton Welch is the main person behind Inbound Closer.

Payton Welch
Payton Welch

He’s the guy that does most of the training and walks you through everything you need to know to start closing deals over the phone.

Payton is a phone sales expert, and according to his Linkedin profile, he works as a senior advisor and digital marketing consultant for a company called Traffic and Funnels. Which was co-founded by his brother, Taylor Welch, and Chris Evans. Both of which are experts in the field of sales and marketing.

This is why you may have seen Taylor and Chris promoting this system at some point. All three of these guys (Payton, Taylor and Chris) are all experts when it comes to closing high ticket sales over the phone.

Is Inbound Closer Legit and Worth $97?

Inbound Closer is a legitimate program, and I personally think the course could be worth $97 if you’re interested in learning how to do high ticket phone selling. I don’t think that’s a huge amount of money to spend considering what you get access to.

That said, I wouldn’t expect to get rich overnight.

As with most sales presentations, you hear all about how amazing it can be, without hearing about the downside. And while there is a lot of potential within the world of high ticket sales, you should expect to face a lot of rejections and time where you’re not earning first.

Also, keep in mind that there are very likely some upsells in store for those who buy. So don’t be surprised if you personally receive a call from someone asking you to buy a higher ticket product. That’s just how these programs work.

Either way, I do think this is a legitimate program. But only you can decide if this is something that is going to be worth your hard earned cash. Because as worthwhile as a program may be, how successful you are ultimately depends on the effort you put into it. This is true for virtually any type of training program.

Can you get a refund if you’re not happy with it?

From what I can see, yes, this does come with a money back guarantee. So if you’re not happy with the course after buying, you can simply request your money back.

Conclusion

Inbound Closer is an online training program that shows you how to sell high ticket programs over the phone. For $97, you get access to training videos, a private mastermind group and other resources aimed at helping you become a successful high ticket phone salesperson.

On one hand, I think this could be a great program for the right person. For example, if you’re someone who enjoys selling stuff over the phone, you can handle rejection comfortably and you’re willing to put in lots of effort to make it work before earning anything.

On the other hand, I would personally take some of what is said in the sales pitch with a grain of salt. Being successful with something like this is possible, but it will take time, effort and persistence. So I wouldn’t join thinking it’s a get rich quick gig, it’s not.

Whatever you decide, I hope you found this review helpful!

  1. BEWARE!! The Inbound Closer is a HUGE SCAM!!! I paid for the course and once I was in the group some creepy guy from the inbound closer messaged me and tried to sell me on a $6000 package. He paused for like 10 minutes during the call out of nowhere and It got really awkward for him when I didn’t respond.. so when he started talking again I let him know I wasn’t interested because, after all , THEY AREN’T SELLING ANYTHING! After that I wasn’t allowed back into the group even though I had been working individually with people among the community, long story short I think they were quite “butt-hurt”. They are getting over on people by selling them Information about the very commonly known “closer” position which is no-secret at all. You can join any number of sales companies and become promoted to a closer or you can simply join a sales company on commission or even with a based salary as a Closer and you don’t need the program at all because you’ll get all the training you need with the company FOR FREE and yes, they will even pay you to learn.
Which is what they don’t tell people.
They get over on the younger demographic because they lack the elementary understanding of very basic business structures.

    HUGE SCAM GUYS.

  3. Tim,
I truly appreciate the article, I was reviewing the course and thought I should do some back round on it. There were several comments about the course but, yours was the only one with real in depth research.
    Thanks again,
