Sweepszilla – Scam or Legit Sweepstakes Site? [Review]

Welcome to my review of Sweepszilla.

I came across this sweepstakes site today while surfing the web. Apparently, members can “access over $10,000 in giveaways” and “a winner is chosen everyday”.

Sounds like an easy way to win some stuff and maybe earn some extra cash.

But is it legit? Read on to find out…

Sweepszilla Review

The Sweepszilla domain (www.sweepszilla.com) was registered anonymously in February of 2018.

According to the site, the company running the show is Taptastic, LLC which is based in New Jersey. Other than this, there’s no information on the site about who’s behind this site.

In any case, the site claims that there’s $10,000’s in prizes to be won, and that someone new wins at least $50 every single day. All you need to do is signup, follow the simple instructions and you’re on your way to winning.

Sounds easy (and it is), but unfortunately many of these sites are scams.

According to the official FTC website

Lottery and sweepstakes scams are one of the most common consumer frauds operating today

So it definitely pays to do your research as you are now, because you never know what you’re really getting yourself into.

The good news is, you don’t have to buy anything to gain entries into the various sweepstakes giveaways. Nor do you have to complete any offers to get your entry ticket.

This is definitely a good thing and goes a long way to establishing the legitimacy Sweepszilla.

It also seems as though people are winning if the ‘winners’ page is anything to go off. This could be legit but to be honest this would be easy to fake, since they are essentially just words on a screen such as “Mary B.” won an iPad in December 2018.

Sweepszilla Winners List

In any case, assuming real people actually do win real prizes, there are still some drawbacks to consider here. And there are definitely some aspects of how this site works that you should know about before diving in.

Here’s what I mean…

How Does Sweepszilla Work?

There are basically three main aspects of this system that you need to understand. Signing up, entering the prize draws and maximising your chances of winning. In the following sections I’ll explain each of these in more detail so you know what to expect.

Signing Up

The very first thing you need to do is register for free on the sweepszilla.com website. And anyone located within the United States, Canada, Australia, New Zealand and South Africa can do this.

Signing up is really just a matter of entering your country and email. However, to complete your registration, you need to check your email and click on the link to confirm your email.

And once you do this, you are taken straight to a page where you can start entering to win.

Which is a little odd…

Why? Because you don’t even have to set a password to use your account. You have to navigate to the ‘my account’ section to create a password and complete your account.

My Account Section

This is a little unusual because if you didn’t know this, you’d never be able to log back into your account since you never created a password.

In any event, you will need to give these people your full name, D.O.B, email and address to complete your account. I checked their privacy policy and it seems legit, so hopefully this won’t result in a ton of SPAM (or worse).

Entering to Win Prizes

Once your account is setup, you can start gaining entries into the various giveaways.

The most common prizes include cash giveaways, gift cards and electronics. And the most notable of all, is the $5,000 giveaway which is featured on the homepage of the members area…

members Area Homepage

If you click on a given prize, you are taken to a screen which asks you to play a simple game. And when I say simple, I mean it’s VERY easy to complete.

Play Games or Skip to Qualify

You literally cannot lose these games, so anyone can play these. And this is all you need to do to qualify and gain an entry into the prize draw, so that’s all there is to it.

It’s also worth mentioning that you can gain multiple entries into the various prize draws, by simply repeating this process.

If you don’t want to play the game (because this would get old very quickly), you can click on ‘skip game and collect entry ticket’. This bypasses the game and gives you an entry ticket (sometimes).

I say “sometimes” because (after doing this multiple times across multiple entries) I noticed that they are randomly sending you to third party sites and putting you through all kinds of offers in order to get your entry.

For example, one time I hit the ‘skip’ button I was sent to a site called SweepsMinder, a third party sweepstakes site. Another time I was sent through a whole string of offers which linked out to all kinds of other sites…

Third Party Offers

I get the feeling that most people would be clicking on the ‘skip’ button to save time and get as many entries as possible. Not to mention the games suck.

So this is how they are making their money off of you.

Not just by the ads you see on the site, but also by linking out to all of these third party sites that they are affiliate with. If you buy from these or complete the offer, they earn a commission.

There’s nothing wrong with this provided they aren’t linking you to scams. I obviously can’t go through every single site they are linking you to, so this is something you’ll need to be mindful of as you see the sites they link you to.

From what I could see, the sites they link out to aren’t scams.

Maximising Your Chances With ‘Zillas’

One unique thing about this site is that you earn ‘zillas’ every time you earn an entry into a prize draw. And you can use these to ‘buy’ even more entries into selected prize draws.

Here’s a screenshot to show you what I mean…

Spend Zillas To Buy More Entries

As you can see, I was able to spend ’10 zillas’ to gain 10 entries into a $250 cash giveaway.

According to the site, you can keep on doing this as many times as you like, there’s no limit. So this is one way the site allows you to maximise your chances of winning.

Verdict – Is Sweepszilla a Scam?

I have to admit, I’m a bit on the fence with this site as to whether or not it’s a scam. After going through this site at length, it is hard to tell for sure one way or another.

So I’ll sum up my thoughts and leave it for you to decide…

One on hand, they are not asking you for any money, and you don’t have to complete any offers to gain entries to win prizes.  The site is making its money off of ads and linking to third party sites, which means you pay nothing and they still make money.

This is definitely a good thing, because you don’t have to buy anything to win stuff. Which is one of the major things that make these sites scams.

On the other hand, I have some concerns and the biggest one is this- is anyone really winning anything?

I mean, they do have lots of names plastered all over the site. But other than this, where’s the proof? Literally anyone could throw some names up so this is not enough to go off.

If no one is winning anything, then this is really just a way for the people behind the site to earn ad revenue and affiliate revenue. Which means it would be a scam in this case, considering they are outright lying to you.

I also have some concerns about giving some random company run by anonymous individuals, my personal information. This is exactly how people end up getting TONS of SPAM and it can even lead to worse things such as identity theft.

Now to be clear- I am NOT saying Sweepszilla is doing either of these things. I am simply saying it’s a valid concern I have with sites like this in general.

I guess time will tell if Sweepszilla is a scam or a legitimate way to win prizes.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this, so chime in to share your experience (good or bad) in the comment section below.

Thanks for reading, I hope this review has been helpful!

    • May not seem like much. But after trying relentlessly at those games for probably 2 years. My name and my City. Just $25. But to see my name come up after such a long time of trying. It has been several months now and I’ve received no contact back from several messages I’ve sent. I think that should definitely be breaking a law using your name and City up on the list. I’m disgusted really.

  2. Thank you so much for taking the time to try to help educate us. I’m one of these folks that most definitely is skeptical of ALL these things. On the other hand, my friend wants to BELIEVE EVERYTHING!!! Even after he gets screwed, he STILL doesn’t leave the BULLSHIT online alone. I DON’T KNOW what to do where he’s concerned. Anyway, THANK YOU

    • Hey everyone I left a comment a while back that I was informed by email that I had won $1000.00 on Sweepzilla and had to sign W-9 and return. I actually DID receive a check from them and took it to Walmart and cashed it!!!!

      • Ah… no, I’m calling bullshit on this comment.

Folks, if a site like this asks you to complete a highly sensitive document like a W-9 form – this could lead to identity theft. Do not risk it.

I could be wrong, but it is my opinion that Sweepszilla is a scam. Read the comments from the overwhelming majority of people (and not just on my site).

  10. First for the guy who said they send you to other sweep sites that’s only after you meet your max entrance for the day , I’ve been playing for about 5 month but not every day just when I have time . Today I was told I am a winner I will be back to follow up . The winners page dose seem to be the same names reordered I just thought that they were more decanted and entered every day because every once in a while there will be a new name. I only enter the cash prizes but hope it’s not a scam . Goodluck and hope this helps

  13. I read rules on one of the sweeps and it did not link their privacy statement website to an actual site, so I thought sweepszilla privacy statement was fake. But the rules for another of the sweeps listed on their page had a link to an actual Sweepszilla privacy statement, sweepszilla.com/site/privacypolicy. But you have to read every sweeps’ rules page.

The one for $77,777.777 and another high payout sweep, will not pay it all at once, but over the space of 50 years. What?. I hope the winner lasts 50 years. Most sweeps can opt for a different giveaway than cash or check. And most who are sweeps for a particular gift, e.g. a TV. can also opt to give you cash. The choice is up to them. They usually do not say the “gift” replacement is equivalent to the cash mentioned in the sweep.

  16. I am waiting on a win of $25 Amazon Gift Card that I requested be paid in cash to PayPal on June 24th. Sent a message via their site asking what was going on and was told someone would get in touch with me within 3 days. Nothing yet. 30 day window on prize payout ends in 2 days. Have actually received money from this company before ($899) but not this time. Don’t know how to explain it or what is going on.

  17. Hi,
They sent me an email and said I won a $50 Amazon card in a daily draw on March 2. On March 3 I selected the Amazon card over PayPal or cash. I got impatient after 2 weeks and contacted their site for customer service. They said thanks for my inquiry and someone would get back to me with 3 business days. After about 5 emails sent in the last 2 weeks I realize the messages go into a black hole as nobody has contacted me. I have ended my time on Sweepszilla that was ill spent for nothing.

    • Everyone Thank-you for your Sweepszilla reviews, I have done entire sweeps on that site for 8 Months kept putting Zella’s in the vault for 250.00 until I had some over 6,000 I have never won anything. A few days ago I found out my tickets were being held, I would go online and over 700 Zella’s would be there. I ask why my tickets weren’t posted still setting and basically ignored. I am glad after reading these posts that I never won a thing, I believe they allow certain people to win such as self, relatives, and friends.I will never be back on that site!!
