So, you love fireworks and you’re wondering if you can sell them online, but you’ve got no idea where to start? Fear not, there is a way.

There are many ways you can go about selling these products online, but I personally recommend the website approach because it’s very effective and it won’t cost you tons of money to do. The reason for this is primarily because you don’t need to be paying to attract customers to your offers.

Well, if you are relying on paid advertising things can get very expensive very quickly. This is hands down one of the biggest reasons most people fail online, they can’t get enough customers. The cool thing about this method is that you will learn how to tap into a steady stream of buyers who are already looking to purchase these products, free of charge.

​There are 2 main ways you can go about making money within this space. You can sell your own products, or you can sell products that other companies make.

Either option works well with this method but I am personally more of a fan of the latter approach since this is what I do to make money online. It works and it works very well, no matter what niche you are into. The method of selling other people’s stuff is called affiliate marketing.

For example, a popular company called All Spark Fireworks has an affiliate program that pays out 10% commissions on customers you send to their website. All you need to do is send buyers their way and they will pay you a commission. Turns out the average sale is about $550 according to their website so this could be a very lucrative program to get involved with.

But again, if you want to ​sell your own products, this method will work for you too!

Are People Buying Fireworks Online?

Before embarking on any business endeavour it is important to understand what kind of demand there is for whatever you are trying to sell.​ If no one’s looking to buy online, then it’s probably not a good idea to invest your time and effort into. Makes sense.

The first way to gauge interest in a given topic is to check out Google Trends data, below is a snapshot for the term “Buy Fireworks Online” which shows us some important data:

Looking at this data, we can see that people have been looking to buy these products online steadily for the last 4 years. There also seems to be a pattern where people are buying all year long with 2 peaks around July and December.

What could this be? I’m guessing that July is related to the 4th of July Independence Day celebrations since most people are searching inside the US. I’m also thinking that the December peak is related to New Years celebrations.

This is a good thing, since will allow you to build a site that makes money all year long and capitalise on ​these huge trends each year. Since these trends are so predictable, you will also be able to plan for these well in advance and capitalise on these very nicely with time relevant promos.

Ok, so there’s definitely a strong demand for these products online, but we need to dig deeper. We need to understand the exact topics these folks are searching for online to find these products in the first place. The more you know about your niche, the more successful you will be.

Targeting Low Competition Keywords

First of all, what the heck is a keyword? This is just a search term people are using to find something online. For example, “where to buy fireworks online” is a phrase people are typing into search engines like Google to find a solution to that query. In other words, a keyword is just a search term.

The reason keywords matter is because you can be getting ranked for these in Google yourself, and as a result, be getting free visitors to your website. When you have visitors, you will make money. Don’t worry about how just yet, just know this is how it works.

The reason you get ranked in the first place is because you are going to provide people with useful content which is relevant to the keyword they typed into Google. It might sound complicated, but it’s dead simple when you learn how. Fear not!

It is well worth learning this stuff since you’ll never have to pay to get visitors (traffic)to your site and the quality of these visitors is generally very high. Anyway, the best kinds of keywords to target are low-competition keywords since you can get ranked very easily for these. Even as a complete newbie!

Here’s a few ideas of some of the general topics that people are searching for within this niche:

• How to guides
• Product reviews
• Price comparisons
• Types of fireworks
• Help people find coupons/ deals
• All kinds of related information

These are just broad categories you can write about, but the idea is to get more specific than this and find the exact keywords people are searching within those categories. To show you an example of what I mean I’m going to choose “types of fireworks” as an example of the keywords you could target.

Since I’m not an expert in this niche, the first thing I did was a quick Google search and found an article on the most popular fireworks to get some ideas.

From there I went over to my favourite keyword research tool and started doing some digging. This is where it starts to get exciting and some of the awesome potential within this niche is uncovered.

​The only metrics we are looking at is the ‘Avg’ which is average monthly searches and the ‘QSR’ which gauges competition. Anything under 300 QSR is considered low competition, but the lower the better.

Anyway, just by picking out a handful of the different types of fireworks we’ve been able to find a bunch of low-competition keywords that people are searching for right now. All you need to do is provide those folks with the content they are already searching for and you will be getting targeted traffic to your website.

There are 100’s of different types of fireworks so the potential is insane just within this one category.

Another wide open category is doing reviews of the individual products and companies that sell them:

There are tons of companies out there so the potential is massive here also. People want to know the best products to go with for their circumstances so if you can show them the difference between the stores, the deals they offer and review their products, you will do well.

The point here is that there are tons of ideas and opportunities to get people in front of your offers. You can successfully get your website ranking for any one of these keywords and many more. The end result will be a steady stream of targeted buyers coming to your website each and every day who are interested in the products you are promoting.
