Full Review of Neora – Scam or Legitimate Business Opportunity?

Welcome to my full review of Neora (AKA Neora International).

This company claims to produce “age-fighting products” and provide everyday folks with a “breakthrough entrepreneurial business opportunity”.

Sounds cool, but is it legitimate or just another scam?

Well, to answer this question, I’ve taken a close look at the company, it’s products and business opportunity. And in this review, I’m going to show you exactly what I found!

Company Overview- What’s Neora All About?

Neora International is a network marketing company that sells anti-aging products.

The company was founded in 2011 by CEO Jeff Olson, back when it was known as Nerium International. It was re-branded in February of 2019.

The original name (Nerium) was associated with a key ingredient in the company’s main anti-aging product (nerium oleandrin extract).

However, since 2011 the company has “expanded internationally to offer a wide range of holistic innovative age-fighting skincare and wellness products”. So the change was all about “hitting the reset button, and creating something even better”, according to businesswire.com.

There’s no denying that Neora is a very successful company.

In fact, according to the website (www.neora.com), they are #1 on the Inc. 500 list of America’s fastest growing private companies in the consumer products and services category. And they’ve generated billions of dollars in revenue selling these products across the globe.

What’s their secret to success?

Well according to Jeff Olson, his track record of success, and that of Neora International, has a lot to do with the company’s focus on “happiness”.

Yes, I’m being serious.

He’s an author and motivational speaker, who believes in the power of helping people become happier. Because happy people create more success (or something like that).

And these aren’t just words, Neora really takes this concept all the way!

For instance, their support staff are referred to as “Happiness Heroes” and they have a sister company called Live Happy. Which, according to the website, is all about “spreading happiness”…

Neora, through our sister company, Live Happy, invests time, money and executive support to lead the happiness movement and spread the word through our Live Happy magazine, radio show, podcast and digital resources.

Sounds pretty cool.

Anyways, now that you have an idea on what the company is all about, let’s take a closer look into the products. After all, the products should be of a high quality if you are going to promote them.

The Neora Product Line

The Neora product line consists of anti-aging products that fit into two main categories:

  • Anti-aging skin care products (topical)
  • Anti-aging wellness products (oral)

Together, the company claims their “multifunctional skincare products” are leading the way in anti-aging innovation. And that they “combine the best of science and nature to deliver proven results”.

Bold claim.

In any case, let’s take a closer look at these two main types of products…

Skincare Products

There are 15 individual products and combos in the skincare range.

And according to the company website, they use “exclusive ingredients with proven antioxidants, peptides, plant extracts and vitamins to craft products that target multiple signs of aging”.

The company’s flagship products include:

  • Age IQ® day and night creams, suncream, face wash and eye serum
  • Prolistic™ lotion and probiotic powder
  • Eye-V™ moisture boost hydrogel patches
  • IllumaBoost® brightening and shield for skin tone

The product line also consists of acne treatments and body creams, among others.

Wellness Products

Most network marketing companies sell health and wellness products. However these are somewhat unique in that they are more targeted towards helping you stay ‘youthful’.

As of writing this, there are 10 products and product combos for sale in their “wellness” product line.

These are made up of their flagship Prolistic™ pre and probiotic plus vitamins, EHT® brain formula to boost cognitive function and Youth Factor® vitality complex.

The product line also consists of various “wellness chews” which apparently help with general health and wellness, sleep and energy depending on which formula you buy.

The company claims that these products use “scientifically advanced nutritional ingredients”.

And that they “work to promote cognitive function, support the body’s ability to maintain and repair itself, and contribute directly to your overall health and wellbeing”.

Product “Sets”

Similar to other health and wellness MLM companies I’ve reviewed, like Xyngular for example, Neora sells product “sets”. Which are essentially combinations of products from both the skincare and wellness product lines.

And there are two sets of products…

Advanced Skincare Set

Advanced Skincare Set The “Advanced Skincare Set” retails at $387 and includes a 30 day supply of the following:

  • Age IQ® Night Cream
  • Age IQ® Day Cream
  • IllumaBoost® Brightening & Shield
  • Age IQ® Eye Serum
  • Age IQ® Double-Cleansing Face Wash

Holistic Wellness Set

Holistic Wellness Set The “Holistic Wellness Set” retails at $366 and includes a 30 day supply of the following:

  • Wellness Chews Energy Formula
  • Wellness Chews Sleep Formula
  • Youth Factor® Superfood & Antioxidant* Boost Powder
  • Youth Factor® Complete Vitality Complex
  • EHT® Brain Formula
  • Prolistic™ Pre & Probiotic Plus Vitamins

Combined, these product sets apparently help you achieve optimal “age defying wellness”. So for best results, you’d purchase both packages each and every month. Which together would set you back $753 (retail).

Thankfully, the company offers an autoship program which can save you a stack of cash.

An autoship (or auto-delivery program as they call it) is basically signing up to receive the products automatically shipped to you each month. In return for savings. In this case, the above two kits together would cost you $469 with auto delivery (which is a $284 saving).

Are Neora Products Legit?

I haven’t used these products myself, so I can’t speak from personal experience with respects the products. However, if the website is anything to go by, these products are amazing.

But we all know marketing is… well, marketing!

There’s a lot of talk about “scientifically advanced” ingredients and so forth on the website. But I couldn’t find any credible third party studies to back this up.

To be fair, I do believe there are clinical studies that exist on these products. It’s just that at the time of writing this review, they weren’t available on the company website.

In any case, there is a “real results” page on the company site.

Which is made up of before and after photos. These are photos that were (apparently) sent in by customers who participated in the “90 day challenge”. A 90 day period of using the Neora products as recommended by the company.

And the results look pretty legit overall.

But let’s be honest… the company itself is going to be a little biased when showing you this stuff. As in, there could be tons of people that got zero results, which they’re obviously not going to feature (lol).

Anyways, I did find a decent review of the Neora products which you may find helpful. This review goes into more detail about the ingredients and studies that verify how effective they are.

I guess the best way to know for sure is to do your own research and consider trying these products out. This way, not only will you know if you like the products, but you’ll be in a better position to know if the business opportunity is for you or not.

Because if in your experience the products suck, it’s going to be WAY harder to sell them successfully. You really want to believe in what you’re promoting.

The Neora Business Opportunity & Compensation Plan

The Neora compensation plan outlines the various ways distributors (AKA Brand Partners) can earn by taking part in the business opportunity.

Within the ‘opportunity’ pages of the company website, Neora really emphasises the idea that, as a distributor, you are participating in a “unique e-commerce business model”.

Which is true.

But make no mistake- Neora IS a multilevel marketing (MLM) company.

Thankfully, not all MLM companies are scams or pyramid schemes. But there is a lot of stigma surrounding the MLM business model in general, which is probably why companies like Neora shy away from being more upfront about it.

In any case, being an MLM, there are two primary ways you can earn with Neora:

  • Sell Neora products to customers
  • Build your Neora organisation by recruiting people

In the following sections, I’m going to break these down in more detail, so you know what to expect. But first, let’s take a look at how you can actually get your business started.

Getting Started

To become a Neora Brand Partner (distributor) you will need to be referred by an existing Brand Partner.

On the company website, there’s a link at the top that says “Find Your Brand Partner”. And once you click this link, you get the option to search for a Brand Partner by email, phone or website.

Brand Partner Form

So to get started, you will need a referrer.

If you don’t know anyone, a simple Google search for “Neora distributor” will bring up some distributor sites. And once you’re on one of these sites, you just need to  click through to the main company site, and you’ll be set to go.

Either way, once you have a referrer, you will need to purchase one of these product packs:

  • Basic Kit: Costs $49.95 and comes with no products
  • Starter Pack: Costs $500 and comes with 13 products
  • Builder Pack: Costs $750 and comes with 25 products
  • Premier Builder Pack: Costs $1,000 and comes with 32 products

Each kit/ pack comes with marketing and training materials, and a replicated website. Which is basically a duplicate site that enables you to make sales and refer people.

You also get access to “Neora Edge” which is a subscription for online tools and resources that apparently help you build your business. This is free for the first month, and $29.95 plus tax every month thereafter.

Ways You Can Earn Money

As I mentioned earlier, there are TWO main ways you can earn- selling products and referring others into the business opportunity itself.

Before we dive into these in more detail, I want to give you the heads up on what it takes to qualify to earn.

See, it’s not enough to just buy the “Basic Kit” and become a Brand Partner. You need to become an “active brand partner” if you want to participate in the compensation plan.

In other words, you need to meet certain criteria before you can begin earning.

And the absolute baseline criteria for becoming ‘active’ is to personally sell or purchase 120 PQV worth of product each month. Or 80 PQV worth or auto-ship orders each month. PQV stands for Personal Qualifying Volume and is sales volume associated with each product.

So you’re going to need to purchase or sell some product right out of the gate, if you want to take part in ANY of the following income streams.

With that being said, let’s dive into the different ways you can earn!

Earn Commissions Selling Products

The following income streams are all about earning by selling products directly.

Retail Sales Commissions

Retail commissions are made up of any sales you generate either in person or via your online store. The amount you earn is the difference between your “one-time price” and that of the retail customer.

The trouble with this is, most people won’t be paying retail price, since the autoship pricing is so much better. So this will likely make up a small amount of your overall earnings.

Personal Sales Commissions

This is an additional sales commission of between 5% t0 15% of all of the orders placed by all of your customers in a given month.

This bonus activates as soon as you reach $350 in sales for the month and is based on the entire price of the orders (minus shipping and tax).

Here’s a breakdown of the commission rates:

  • $350 – $1,849 in product sales = 5% commission
  • $1,850 – $3,649 in product sales = 10% commission
  • Over $3,650 in product sales = 15% commission

These are actually some pretty legit commission rates for physical products. And it includes all types of product orders, except your own orders of course.

Preferred Customer Bonuses

A ‘Preferred Customer’ is just a customer who purchases products via the auto-delivery option (auto-ship). And there are three types of Preferred Customer Bonuses you can earn.

First order bonus: This is a 20% commission on the very first order your preferred customer makes.

Personal PC Bonus: Maintain 6 Preferred Customers (each with at least 55 QV) and 500 PQV from all of your personal customers’ orders, to earn a $50 bonus. This scales up to ‘Personal PC Plus’ bonus of $150 once you reach 9 Preferred Customers and 800 PQV in customer orders.

Team PC Bonus: This is a bonus of between $200 to $2,000 that pays out progressively higher amounts as you help your referrals, and their referrals, achieve the 3UR Free, Personal PC and Personal PC Plus Bonuses.

Product Rewards

I know this isn’t a way to earn money.. but it’s worth mentioning here because it’s a way you can score yourself some free product!

Neora gives Brand Partners (distributors) a couple of ways to earn free products.

The first way is through the “3UR Free” program. Which awards Brand Partners who maintain an autoship of at least 80 QV per month. And who acquire at least three Preferred Customers who maintain 210 QV through autoship orders. This is capped at $200 per month.

Second, Brand Partners can earn free product samples with the “Neora Gives Back” program. Basically, whenever you refer a Brand Partner or Preferred Customer, who enrols in an autoship, you earn points. Which can be redeemed for products samples.

Earn Commissions Referring Others Into the Business Opportunity

The following income streams are all about building your Neora organisation (recruiting).

First Order Bonus

This bonus is paid to you whenever you recruit a Brand Partner who purchases a Starter, Builder or Premier Builder Pack. With a further 10% going to whoever referred you. The commission is based on the individual pack that is purchased.

Director Bonus

This is a $100 to $200 bonus that is paid if you reach ‘Director’ rank within your first few months. If you reach Director status within 2 months, it’s $200 and if it’s between 2-3 months, the bonus is $100.

Power-5 Bonus

Whenever you recruit 5 Brand Partners who purchase a qualifying enrolment pack, within a rolling 12 month period, you will earn this bonus. The amount you can earn is 5% of the total price of the 5 product packs. Which works out to between $125 to $250 each time this bonus pays out.

Team Commissions

Team Commissions start once you reach ‘Elite Brand Partner’ and are based on the sales volume of ‘Senior Brand Partners’ and higher ranked affiliates, within your Placement Tree (unilevel downline).

With a unilevel downline system, your direct referrals go into your first level, their referrals go into your second level, and so on. Theoretically infinite levels deep and wide.

Unilevel Downline System

How much you earn within this income stream depends on two factors:

  • Your rank
  • The sales volume within each leg of your unilevel downline

Basically, the higher your rank, the more “generations” in your downline you will earn on. And the more sales volume there is within the levels you’re qualified to earn on, the higher your commissions.

A generation begins with the first Senior Brand Partner (or higher ranking affiliate), and a new generation begins with the next Senior Brand Partner (or higher ranking affiliate). This continues 8 generations deep.

Here’s a quick example to show you what I mean…

If you’re an Elite Brand Partner affiliate, you will earn 5% on the sales volume of your first generation Senior Brand Partner affiliates or higher. And 4% on the second generation. As soon as there is a third Senior Brand Partner affiliates or higher in that same leg, you will not earn from that sales volume, until you progress in rank.

Here’s a chart taken from the compensation plan which illustrates this further:

Team Commissions Chart

Momentum Bonus

The Momentum Bonus pays out an additional 3% bonus to Elite Brand Partners and higher, for the first 3 months of achieving that rank.

So for example you would earn 8% and 7% respectively (instead of 5% and 4%) on your first and second generations as an Elite Brand Partner. But only during the first few months of being at that rank.

Lifestyle Bonus

The Lifestyle Bonus is a monthly bonus payout according to the rank you achieve. The higher your rank, the higher the monthly bonus payment you receive.

Here’s the breakdown of what you can earn:

  • Premier Director: $150 p/m bonus
  • Area Marketing Director: $250 p/m bonus
  • Regional Marketing Director: $400 p/m bonus
  • National Marketing Director: $1,200 p/m bonus
  • Silver National Marketing Director: $3,000 p/m bonus
  • Gold National Marketing Director: $7,000 p/m bonus
  • Platinum National Marketing Director: $15,000 p/m bonus
  • International Marketing Director: $30,000 p/m bonus
  • Silver International Marketing Director: $60,000 p/m bonus
  • Gold International Marketing Director: $100,000 p/m bonus
Luxury Car Bonus

Once you reach Elite Director level and above, you become eligible for the Luxury Car Bonus.  This is a monthly payout for a vehicle of your choice OR a simple cash payout if you prefer.

Here are the payout figures according to rank:

  • Elite Director to Regional Marketing Director: $500 car payment or $375 cash
  • National Marketing Director to Gold National Marketing Director: $750 car payment or $475 cash
  • Platinum National Marketing Director and above: $1,000 car payment or $650 cash
Check Match Bonus

The Check Match bonus is based on the Team Commissions income of your Team Director (or higher) ranked referrals. In other words, it’s a ‘match’ on what they earn in a given month.

As an Elite Director (minimum rank to qualify), you can earn 5% of the Team Commission income of your first generation Team Directors or higher, within your downline.

The higher your rank, the more generations of Team Director or higher affiliates you can earn from. And the higher the cap (between $350 to $14,650) on what you can earn.

Check Match Bonus

Infinity Bonus

The Infinity bonus pays out a bonus of between 0.5% – 1% of your entire organisations sales volume each month.

You must be a Silver National Marketing Director or higher to qualify and no more than 60% of this bonus can come from any one leg in your placement tree downline.

Silver National Marketing Director’s earn 0.5%, Gold National Marketing Director’s earn 0.75% and Platinum National Marketing Director’s earn the full 1%.

NMD Generation Bonus

The NMD Generation Bonus comes into effect once you reach the rank of Platinum National Marketing Director.

The way this works is you earn a percentage of the sales volume that falls under any National Marketing Director (NMD) or higher affiliates within your downline. As with the Check Match bonus, the higher your rank, the more generations you can earn from.

Here’s a breakdown of what you can earn according to your affiliate rank…

Platinum National Marketing Directors. Earn 1% of the commission volume (CV) of your 1st generation NMD or above referrals.

International Marketing Directors. Earn 1.5% of the CV of your 1st generation NMD or above referrals, and 1% on the 2nd generation.

Silver International Marketing Director and above. Earn 2% of the CV of your 1st generation NMD or above referrals, 1.5% on the 2nd and 1% on the 3rd generation.

Verdict- Is Neora a Scam or Legit Opportunity?

No, Neora is not a scam in my opinion.

I’ve taken a close look at the company itself, the product line and compensation plan. And from what I can see, this is not a scam operation or pyramid scheme.

Neora is selling (what appear to be) high quality products that appeal to a large audience.

And there is definitely earnings potential within business opportunity. Which make it potentially worthwhile for anyone willing to put the time and effort in.

Don’t get me wrong, it’s complicated as all hell (like most MLMs).

But this seems like a fair and well rounded compensation plan in comparison to some of the other companies I’ve looked at over the years.

The other cool thing about this company is the strong focus on online marketing.

Most MLM companies teach you to just try and hustle people you know to make sales. Which simply will not get you very far. However, Neora seems to put quite an emphasis on leveraging the internet to generate leads and sales, which is a good thing for Brand Partners.

I also like that it’s a global company.

You can become a customer and distributor in multiple countries throughout the globe, not just the Unites States. Such as Canada, Mexico, Australia, New Zealand and more. This really presents an opportunity to grow your business internationally.

What about the bad stuff?

Well the reality is, no company is perfect, so there are drawbacks to consider.

And probably the biggest drawback in my opinion, is the fact that this all revolves around the MLM business model.

On one hand, it’s cool to leverage the work of others by building a downline. And it’s nice to be part of a group of people that share similar goals.

On the other hand, building a sizeable enough downline to make any real money, can take a LOT of time and effort. I mean, literally recruiting every living, breathing thing!

Then there’s the cost of getting (and remaining) “active”. Along with other costs such as attending events, extra subscriptions (Edge) and so forth.

The reality is, there are viable alternatives out there. As in, ways you can earn money from home that have nothing to do with MLM, recruiting or buying products you probably don’t need.

I’m not saying this to put you off. As I said earlier, I think this could be a great opportunity for the right person. But it’s always smart to consider alternatives before diving into something.

Whatever you decide, I hope you found this review helpful.

    • Hi Tammie,

Glad you enjoyed the article and thank you for commenting.

I have a full plate with my existing businesses, so I definitely am not looking to start anything new or use these products. So you’d be wasting your samples on me. I do appreciate the offer though. 🙂
