When I first started my work-from-home journey, the first thing I came across was a paid survey site. Personally, I blew past it because it seemed too good to be true to earn money just from taking a few surveys. But that’s exactly what PrizeRebel promises you can do.
So, is PrizeRebel legit and safe to use? With SHA and SSL encryptions and multiple proof of payments available online, paid survey site PrizeRebel is a safe, secure, and legitimate way to earn $10 or more per day by completing surveys, tasks, offers, and more.
Now let’s take a closer look at what PrizeRebel is, how it works, how much you can reasonably expect to make, how and when they pay, and more!
What Is PrizeRebel About and How Does It Work?
PrizeRebel is an online paid survey platform founded in 2007 that’s really similar to SurveyTime and ySense.
Basically, it’s a website where you earn money online by completing various market research surveys and redeeming points for either cash or gift cards.
Signing up is easy – in fact, they claim it only takes 10 seconds. All you need to get started is to fill out the following information:
- First Name
- Last Name
- Password
Once you’re all signed up, you can start completing surveys to earn points, which you can then redeem for rewards!
PrizeRebel claims to offer the most survey inventory available when compared to their competitors, offering surveys from over 12 different partners.
On top of surveys, you can also earn extra points by:
- Completing special offers
- Watching videos
- Doing tasks
- Collecting daily points
- Participating in contests and games
- Referral program
- Account level extras
And not only do they put a lot of effort into offering lots of surveys and other ways to earn points, but they also focus on beating their competitor’s payout rates, too!
Is PrizeRebel A Legit Site?
PrizeRebel has been around for over 12 years, has a community of over 10 million members, and has given out over $20 million in rewards since 2007.
Lots of reviewers have had positive experiences, and there are multiple different videos online that show proof of payment being made.
So, I think it’s safe to say that it’s a legitimate site – not a scam.
I think a lot of people mistakenly call it a scam out of frustration because – like all the other survey sites – sometimes it can take a long time to earn enough points to actually earn money.
A few reviewers have claimed that they had completed surveys but had never gotten credit for them – one even stating that about one in every three successfully completed surveys didn’t pay out.
However, PrizeRebel publicly addressed them, saying that it might take a little bit for the points to show up in one’s account.
Overall, though, the majority of users seem to have a positive experience.
As far as safety is concerned, PrizeRebel uses SHA and SSL(HTTPS) encryptions to make sure that any data transmitted or stored is done so securely.
The only review that I’ve found that had a negative view of PrizeRebel’s security was someone who claimed that they locked her account after she refused to send them a filled-out W9 tax form (complete with her social security number) when they wouldn’t provide her a secure way to digitally send that information.
At the time of writing this, PrizeRebel hasn’t responded, at least not publicly. However, this situation seems to be a one-off outlier, not the common experience.
How Much Can You Make On PrizeRebel?
As we’ve already stated, PrizeRebel prides itself on offering some of the highest paying surveys out there. Their surveys can range from $0.50 all the way up to $20.00!
The breakdown of points to cash is one point equals one cent – or 100 points earns you $1.
PrizeRebel claims that you should be able to reach the 500 point threshold in thirty minutes to one hour.
However, that doesn’t necessarily mean that you’ll be walking away with $40 to $80 a day if you spent a full 8 hours doing this. Rather, most people claim to make an average of $10 a day.
And you typically get paid with a gift card:
PrizeRebel says that the bulk of that would likely be made from surveys, the average survey rewarding you 75-345 points and taking between 20-30 minutes.
The main thing that will affect how much you can earn per hour – especially if you’re relying mostly on surveys – is getting nearly 20 minutes into a survey just to find out that you’re disqualified.
PrizeRebel says that this is common among most survey sites (which is true), but that they try to remove any surveys that have late disqualifications.
They recommend answering new profile questions as much as possible to help narrow down the surveys you’re more likely to qualify for.
PrizeRebel Referral Program
The referral program that PrizeRebel offers is one of the best ways to earn money with them – if you can get enough people on board.
The way it works is you promote PrizeRebel, and people can sign up with your referral link. Once your referrals start earning points, you get a percentage (up to 30%!) of what they earn.
This is thanks to a process called affiliate marketing, where companies pay commissions when you refer people to buy their products and join their sites.
There’s also no limits or caps as to how much you can earn over the lifetime course with your referrals.
In fact, in 2017, they paid out over $100,000 in referral earnings alone.
This is also a bonus because you can be earning money without actually having to do anything, so long as your referrals are active.
So, it seems like a combination of acquiring active referrals as well as completing surveys is the best way to go to earn the most money per day.
How Long Does It Take To Get Paid?
Getting paid from PrizeRebel can either be instant or it can take up to 24 hours, depending on what level you’re at.
If you’re in the gold level or above, your request will be processed within about 10 minutes – unless the reward is out of stock.
You move up levels when you’ve earned a certain number of rewards points.
With PrizeRebel, there are three main rewards you can choose from:
- PayPal
- Direct Bank Transfer
- Gift Cards (with instant redemptions)
If you choose to get a gift card, you can pick from over 250 different options, such as:
- Ebay
- Amazon
- Walmart
- Burger King
- Target
- Visa
- Starbucks
Another unique feature with PrizeRebel is that they offer low payout thresholds – you can cash out once you’ve reached only $2-$5.
What I Like
- You can choose from hundreds of different gift cards
- They offer a wide variety of surveys and other methods of earning points
- It doesn’t take long to get paid out (especially if you’re gold level or higher)
- Their referral percentages are very high (up to 30%)
What I Don’t Like
- Most people average only $10 per day
- You can spend 20 minutes on a survey only to get disqualified and earn nothing
My Overall Opinion
Overall, I think PrizeRebel is a legitimate site that is safe to use (so long as you use basic common sense and don’t give out any personal information in an unsecure way).
It seems comparable to other survey sites, just maybe with a little bit more to choose from. Either way, it’s a decent way to earn a little on the side for not that much (difficult) work, but it certainly wouldn’t be able to replace a full time income.
Whether or not you sign up for it is a personal choice. Either way, hopefully this article was helpful to you!
